Andover business completes biggest contract

On Friday, Kit Malthouse, the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for North West Hampshire, visited Marston Robing, an Andover based provider of graduation gowns and photography, as part of his drive to celebrate and support businesses in the constituency.

Marston have just completed their biggest ever contract providing graduation gowns to St Mary’s University in London. This achievement marks nine years of outstanding growth and innovation by the company, who also provide all the school graduation gowns in Hampshire.

The company has been so successful that the national media have been beating a path to their door. The BBC, the Times and Metro have all featured stories about the company, most notably its graduation gowns for preschools and radical approach to providing academic dress more suitable for women.

John Martin, MD and owner of Marston Robing, said: “Kit was interested in many different aspects of the business. From his questions and comments, he is clearly familiar with running a business and the major issues involved. We covered everything from how we set our prices to the impact of business rates and I was very impressed with Kit’s attitude and desire to learn. We also talked about life and work in Andover and Test Valley, both of which are very positive in my view.”

Kit Malthouse said “Marston Robing is exactly the kind of business that makes North West Hampshire so successful. Innovative and hardworking, John and his team have achieved great things and deserve all the support we can give them. As a business owner myself I know how hard life can be, and what the government needs to do so that more companies like this can grow and prosper in the area.”
