The EU Referendum at Andover College

KitatCollege

On Friday morning, I joined politics students at Andover College to discuss the upcoming EU Referendum on the 23rd June. They quizzed me on the merits of voting to ‘Remain’ in the EU or to ‘Leave’ it and as usual they blew away any negative stereotypes about young people’s relationship to politics. They were engaged, informed and open minded, and in what must be a surprise to those who assume the young to be about to vote en masse for membership, the mini poll we held at the end was very close. With a number of pro-EU staff voting amongst them it fell 37 for In to 34 for Out, leading me to suspect that I might well have shaded it for Brexit with the students.
