Today is Hampshire Day and yesterday I spent the morning in Winchester with my fellow MPs talking to the leadership of the County Council about the future of our county up to 2050.
As an economic unit, Hampshire has a bigger economy than Wales and is about the size of a small European nation. This doesn’t happen by accident and we had detailed discussions about what we can do to help with the continued prosperity of our towns, cities and villages.
For my part, I made the strong case for a big concentration on school standards. I firmly believe that social and economic success begins with education and if towns like Andover and Tadley are to continue to prosper, that bright future will begin in their schools.
