The public consultation regarding the planned enormous incinerator alongside the A303 at Barton Stacey commences tomorrow and runs from 1 November to 12 December. Many of you have written to me with your concerns, which I fully agree with. This project is not right for our area and it will blight our countryside for decades to come. Once built, the incinerator will require 400 lorry movements per day and will have a huge impact on the countryside for miles around. Many people have serious concerns about the wider environmental impact with sensitive water courses nearby.
The Government has ordered Wheelabrator, the developer, to contact residents in a 15 km radius of the site, yet many of my constituents in Andover, Overton, Laverstoke, Dummer, parts of Oakley, Hurstbourne Priors, St Mary Bourne and Hurstbourne Tarrant have not heard a thing. I strongly urge you to respond to the consultation.
The public consultation documents are available to read in all TVBC and HCC offices, as well as online.
Wheelabrator is also holding a number of public consultation events during November – again, could I please urge you to attend if possible:
