RMT Strike Update for Thursday 26th July

The first day of the RMT union’s strikes lands tomorrow to coincide with the start of the summer holidays. You can follow the link for the alternative route information from South Western Railway. SWR have assured me that they are doing everything they can to minimise disruption to their customers and my constituents on the published strike dates. They are using all available resources including contingency guards, providing replacement bus services, arranging ticket acceptance on a number of other rail and bus networks and running as many trains as possible at maximum length to provide as much capacity as possible.  Unfortunately because of the time of year and the fact that many of their contingency guards have planned annual leave and are therefore unavailable, it is unlikely that they will be able to provide the same level of service as usual during strike action. Tomorrow, they are expecting to provide around 60% of the usual service across the network.
