NHS Improvement (formerly Monitor) has informed Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust that it intends to take further action to ensure urgent patient safety improvements are made. This follows a warning notice being issued by Care Quality Commission.
NHS Improvement intends to put an additional condition in the trust’s licence to provide NHS services, which would allow it to make management changes at the trust if progress isn’t made. The Care Quality Commission identified con…cerns with how the trust monitors and improves the safety of its services, and how it assesses and manages any risks to its patients.
We are rightly proud of our NHS but we must pursue high standards at all times. Patients deserve good, safe care and it is absolutely right that the Care Quality Commission and NHS Improvement are pushing hard for action at Southern Health. I’m also encouraged that Southern Health remain committed to change. I look forward to seeing progress in the areas that the regulator has raised so the NHS delivers the best care it can for my constituents.
