Plans for a 14-turbine wind farm near Bullington Cross will not go ahead, after the energy company behind it has withdrawn its appeal against planning permission refusal.
In June 2014, Winchester, Test Valley and Basingstoke and Deane councils turned down EDF Energy Renewables’ application for the agricultural land north of the A303.
Kit Malthouse, MP for North West Hampshire, said: “This is really good news and the direct result of a Conservative government putting local communities in the driving seat where wind farms are concerned. For too long, people have felt that planning was something done to them, not with them. On this issue at least, that is no longer the case and I look forward to seeing this principal extended to all areas that have sensible, locally generated, neighbourhood plans in place.”
