One of the organisations I’ve been privileged to get to know over the last few years is VIA. Based at Redenham Park west of Andover, Veterans in Action works to support those leaving the forces with PTSD and other mental health issues, looking to restore self respect, confidence, trust and self reliance. They do this through therapeutic activities often with an adventurous theme. I dropped in on them this week as they prepare for just such an expedition, driving down through Europe to Greece and back, visiting battlefields and memorials along the way. It will take 12 of them six weeks and they plan to visit some of the locations where they served, particularly in the Balkans. I wish them the very best of luck on the trip and look forward to seeing them safely home in the autumn.
