Small Business Saturday – Andover Buzzing

Conservative parliamentary candidate, Kit Malthouse, was in Andover town centre on Saturday as part of a national day celebrating small businesses.

Kit said “I was delighted to see how busy the market in the High Street was on Small Business Saturday this year and it was very encouraging to see the shops I visited packed with customers. It’s a testament to Andover’s hard working small business owners that the High Street is beginning to recover so well.”

Kit was welcomed by the owners of David Mellor Jewellers, Charlie’s and Heavenly Sweets, all of which are situated off the main High Street.

He added “While there is a work to be done, it’s too easy to get swept up in the negativity about Andover town centre, but with the bustling shops, a busy market and a lower than average number of empty retail units there are plenty of reasons to celebrate and support Andover’s small business success stories and the positive effects they have on the town’s economy.”
