I know that the Government remains fully committed to introducing a ban on wild animals in circuses and supported the Wild Animals in Circuses Bill, which was tabled in the last Parliament. I hoped that this Bill could make progress before the General Election, but unfortunately this has not been possible owing to a lack of parliamentary time. The Government is, however, committed to introducing a ban on wild animals in travelling circuses in the new Parliament and when it does I will vote in favour.
