Safety on the A34

A34meeting
I and other MPs from the region met with Highways England again today to discuss the safety issues on the A34. Local people have long voiced concerns about the road and I’ve been pressing for action after more than 50 accidents resulted in deaths or serious injury last year. The entire carriageway had to be closed 56 times. After letters to Ministers, Parliamentary Questions and repeated lobbying, the reception has been positive. Work on the Firgo Gap is now underway, but there is more to be done. With constant pressure and urgency from us, we will get there in the end.
