I recently spoke in the very important debate on mental health issues affecting armed forces veterans – people who have laid their lives on the line for our country and deserve our gratitude and support. The timing was spot on as locally in North West Hampshire, Veterans in Action have just launched PTSD awareness month, and I was proud to have worn their badge in the Commons. We have work to do on spreading awareness – particularly among medical staff. I’m glad the PM has confirmed this is a priority, and I very much hope we can set up a similar awareness month initiative nationally.
